Zilver and Kuya Capture 'McFadden Leg 2 Divisions

Zilver and Kuya stamp themselves as favorites for the $20,000 Final of the McFadden Memorial Sprint Claiming Series

Leg 2 of the McFadden Memorial Sprint Claiming Series featured two big winners at Portland Meadows on Wednesday night. Two divisions of the ‘McFadden were contested at five and one half furlongs. Each division carried a purse of $5,000 and horses competed with a $4,000 claiming price. The action on the track was fast and furious as was the action at the claim box.

Wed Sept 5 - P4 Carryover

There is a Pick 4 carryover of $2,927.21 going into the card of racing on Wednesday September 5, 2012.

The Pick 4 starts in Race #1 and covers the first four races of the day.

In the event no one hits the early Pick 4, the new carryover will go into the late Pick 4 on Wednesday beginning in Race #6 and covering races 6-9.

My Mounts is a daily feature where Track Announcer Jason Beem talks with a jockey to get their thoughts on the horses they will be riding for a particular live race day. Today our guest is jockey Anne Sanguinetti, who is enjoying a very strong meet here this season, currently second in the standings. Anne rode here back in 2005 and 2006 and took the Portland Mile with Charlie’s Pride. She spent the last years travelling and riding in places like Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and California.

For Sunday we’ve been joined by jockey Mark Anderson. Mark has been coming to Portland Meadows for the last four years and has been a regular in the top five of the standings ever since. He’s an avid hard rock fan and Alice in Chains worshipper, and loves the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Jockey Luis Torres continued his career season at Portland Meadows as he added six more wins to bring his total to 40 winners through just seventeen days of racing. Torres had those six wins from just seventeen mounts, good for a 35% winning percentage, highest among riders with more than five mounts on the week. This is Luis’ second time this season taking home the Stanford’s Jockey of the Week award.
