Zilver looks to keep rolling in the McFadden Memorial Sprint Claiming Series

A racehorse’s life and career is never as simple as what’s on the past performance page. There’s always so much that occurs between each running line that helps to better paint a picture of that horse and how he or she got to where they are. For the five-year-old Thoroughbred runner Zilver, the story is one of many van rides, a few different owners, and finding a track he loves.

Pick 5 Carryover for Sunday November 3rd

When 31/1 shot Midnight Matty lit up the toteboard in the 9th race on Wednesday, it spurred a $2,825 carryover in the Pick 5 sequence for Sunday November 3rd.  The Pick 5 sequence will cover races 5 through 9 on Sunday and post time for the fifth race is 1:58pm (Pacific).  

The Portland Meadows Pick 5 is a $0.25 base wager and features a low takeout rate of 15%.

Leg 2 of the City of Roses Filly and Mare Sprint Claiming Series on Wednesday 10/30

Sixteen fillies and mares will compete in two divisions in Wednesday’s Leg 2 of the City of Roses Filly and Mare Sprint Claiming Series. The 2nd Leg is a $3,200 claimer at five and one half furlongs and the top point earners from the first two legs will qualify for the $15,000 Final on November 20th which is a $4,000 claiming event at six furlongs.

Oregon Craft Beer Fest

In conjunction with Oregon Championship Day (click HERE for more information) we will also host our Oregon Craft Beer Fest on Sunday November 17, 2013.

The Oregon Craft Beer Fest will feature state-wide samples and delicious winter selections and will take place primarily inside the grandstand on the mainline. Additional beers will also be available in the outdoor Beer-B-Q tent.

Pick 4 and Pick 5 Carryovers at Portland Meadows on Sunday 10/27

Both the Pick 4 and Pick 5 wagers at Portland Meadows yielded no winning tickets on Wednesday, so both wagers will offer carryovers when racing resumes on Sunday October 27th. 

The 10 race card kicks off at 12pm (Pacific) and the Pick 5 will feature a carryover of $2,311.  The Pick 5 covers races 5 through 9 and post time for the 5th race is 1:58pm (Pacific).  The Pick 5 at Portland Meadows is a $0.25 base wager and features a player friendly 15% takeout rate. 

Claiming Series Action

Wednesdays are Claiming Series Days at Portland Meadows

Every Wednesday from October 9, 2013 through December 4, 2013 Portland Meadows will feature three separate Claiming Series that will offer up great betting action on the track and excitement at the claiming box for owners, trainers and jockeys. The Claiming Series’ are each a three round series that consists of two preliminary legs and a final that carries a purse of $15,000.

OHBPA Route Claiming Series kicks off with Leg 1 on Wednesday 10/23

Twenty two horses will compete in two divisions of Leg 1 of the Oregon H.B.P.A. Route Claiming Series at Portland Meadows on Wednesday afternoon, October 23rd. Wednesday’s races are the first leg of a three part Series. There are two preliminary legs and then a Final event that features a $15,000 purse. Leg 1 will consist of the runners competing at one mile and one sixteenth and for a $2,500 claiming price.

Flyin Lion victorious in the Portland Meadows Fall Derby Finals

Flyin Lion once again drifted out during her race as she did in her trial, but once again she was far enough in front that it didn’t matter as she took home the $16,000 Portland Meadows Fall Derby Finals. Sent off as the even money favorite, Flyin Lion broke outward and bumped with Jess Be Hawkin right at the start.
