Entries for Oregon Championship Day are out

Entries were released on Tuesday for Oregon Championship Day, one of the biggest days of the season at Portland Meadows that will take place on November 17th. The day celebrates the Oregon-bred as all ten races are restricted to Oregon-bred runners only. There are four $15,000 stakes events for Thoroughbreds as well as the $17,000 added Baxter Andruss Futurity for the Quarter Horses.

Maddie's Gold could be the real deal on Oregon Championship

From inside of his stall, two year-old Maddie’s Gold doesn’t look all that impressive. The son of Harbor the Gold has a huge white nose that he sticks out at visitors, while his next door neighbor, stakes winner Midda’s Gold Touch watches the young horse inquisitively.

Calypsonoted ready to go for Oregon Championship Day

Patience can be a tough thing in horse racing. Whether it’s a rider waiting to make his move, or a bettor waiting for the right race to play, having patience can often pay off. For trainer Eric Jensen, his three year-old star filly Calypsonoted has tested his patience. For last year’s top two year-old at Portland Meadows, finding a race for her age level and ability has been a difficult proposition.

Pick 4 Carryover for Wednesday November 13th

The Pick 4 proved very elusive on Sunday, as nobody could piece together all four winners.  So a carryover of $3,714 will go into the Wednesday Pick 4 sequence, which covers races 7 through 10.  Post time for the 7th race is 2:52pm (Pacific).

The Pick 4 will feature both divisions of Leg 2 of the OHBPA Route Claiming Series, which will be run as races 9 and 10.

Portland Meadows' Pick 4 is a $1 base wager and features a low takeout rate of 14%.

Bad Boy K and My Man's No Lady both score upsets in Leg 2 of McFadden Memorial Sprint Claiming Series

Bad Boy K and My Man’s No Lady weren’t the favorites in their races, but they were certainly the top runners on Wednesday as both put in solid wins in their respective divisions of the Leg 2 of the McFadden Memorial Sprint Claiming Series. Horses were competing in this second leg, with the top twelve point earners getting a spot in the $15,000 Final which comes up on November 27th.

Pick 5 Carryover for Sunday November 10th

Longshots were the special of the day on Wednesday at Portland Meadows, and after 82/1 shot Shanna Savana won the first leg of the Pick 5 sequence, most tickets were done.  All tickets were gone once 18/1 Bad Boy K won the seventh race, ensuring the carryover.

So Sunday November 10th will feature a Pick 5 carryover of $2,522.06.  The Pick 5 will cover races 5 through 9 on the card and post time for the 5th race is 1:58pm (Pacific).  First post at Portland Meadows is at 12:00pm (Pacific).
