Pick 4 and Pick 5 Carryovers at Portland Meadows on Sunday 10/27

Both the Pick 4 and Pick 5 wagers at Portland Meadows yielded no winning tickets on Wednesday, so both wagers will offer carryovers when racing resumes on Sunday October 27th. 

The 10 race card kicks off at 12pm (Pacific) and the Pick 5 will feature a carryover of $2,311.  The Pick 5 covers races 5 through 9 and post time for the 5th race is 1:58pm (Pacific).  The Pick 5 at Portland Meadows is a $0.25 base wager and features a player friendly 15% takeout rate.

Wednesdays are Claiming Series Days at Portland Meadows

Every Wednesday from October 9, 2013 through December 4, 2013 Portland Meadows will feature three separate Claiming Series that will offer up great betting action on the track and excitement at the claiming box for owners, trainers and jockeys. The Claiming Series’ are each a three round series that consists of two preliminary legs and a final that carries a purse of $15,000.

OHBPA Route Claiming Series kicks off with Leg 1 on Wednesday 10/23

Twenty two horses will compete in two divisions of Leg 1 of the Oregon H.B.P.A. Route Claiming Series at Portland Meadows on Wednesday afternoon, October 23rd. Wednesday’s races are the first leg of a three part Series. There are two preliminary legs and then a Final event that features a $15,000 purse. Leg 1 will consist of the runners competing at one mile and one sixteenth and for a $2,500 claiming price.

Flyin Lion victorious in the Portland Meadows Fall Derby Finals

Flyin Lion once again drifted out during her race as she did in her trial, but once again she was far enough in front that it didn’t matter as she took home the $16,000 Portland Meadows Fall Derby Finals. Sent off as the even money favorite, Flyin Lion broke outward and bumped with Jess Be Hawkin right at the start.

Pick 5 Carryover for Wednesday October 16th of $2,051

Sunday's Pick 5 proved too tough for anyone to hit and there will be a carryover of $2,051.81 into Wednesday's card.  The Sunday sequence looked tough on paper, and proved tough, especially after 25/1 shot Parker's Gibsongirl won the first leg. 

The Pick 5 on Wednesday will cover races 5 through 9 and is just a $0.25 base wager.  The takeout rate is a player friendly 15%.  

The sequence gets underway at 1:48pm (Pacific) and the first four legs will all be divisions of the McFadden Memorial Sprint Claiming Series.  

Riding champ Luis Torres back in the saddle after injury

It was a long five months for jockey Luis Torres this spring and summer. The 29 year-old jockey spent his days resting in his Vancouver, Washington home, watching his four year-old daughter Keiley, and heading to physical therapy appointments. But the desire to get back to riding horses was always present in the house.

Portland Meadows successful summer meet concludes; fall racing starts Wed. Oct. 2

Sunday marked the end of the Summer portion of the Portland Meadows 2013/14 season. Sixteen days of racing were conducted during the summer portion of the season, starting with opening day on Sunday July 21st, which saw thousands of customers come through the doors to watch racing under the Portland sunshine. Racing continues all fall and into the winter on Wednesdays and Sundays with an earlier first post of 12pm (Pacific).
