Trainer Felimon Alvarado goes 6 for 6 on the week

Trainer Felimon Alvarado had a memorable week at Portland Meadows as his runners went a perfect 6 for 6 over the three day race week of October 24th through October 26th.  Alvarado was 0 for 3 in week one, but he got hot starting on Monday with a win in the fifth race with Mr. Ichiban, a horse who has been in Alvarado’s barn for the past few seasons here at Portland Meadows for owner Matteo Ieraci.  Alvarado came right back in the 6th race and scored a slight 9/2 upset win with Pattie’s Gold who went right to the early lead under jockey Javier Matias and never looked back.  The win was extra special for Alvarado as he owns Pattie’s Gold himself.

Tuesday October 25th was another banner day for Felimon Alvarado as he had three starters and all of them found the Winner’s Circle.  Alvarado, Matias and Ieraci once again teamed up in the fifth race to score with Western Where, and Alvarado followed that up with a sweep of the late daily double, taking race 8 with Lady Schnapps, who jockey Eliska Kubinova took all the way on the lead, and the 9th race with Salish Road under jockey Jose Zunino.

For good measure, on Wednesday October 26th, Alvarado sent out just one runner, and it was even money favorite Giacomina.  Under another front-running score by Kubinova,, Alvarado completed his perfect 6 for 6 week, certainly a week he will never forget
