So Gone takes the Opening Day feature

So Gone takes the Opening Day feature

So Gone was long gone as he and Rocco Bowen went right to the front and never looked back as they took the $10,000 Overnight Handicap, the feature on the Opening Day card.  Sent off at odds of 12 to 1, So Gone was able to dictate somewhat moderate fractions through the early going as he was pressed by Chaching Pete.  The race shape changed completely when favorite Mr. Collaborator, a speed horse, broke very slow and eventually finished in last place.  Chaching Pete made a gallant effort at catching So Gone, but it was futile as So Gone never relinquished.  Carry On John finished up in third.

The win was the 8th career score for So Gone who is trained by Tawnja Elison who owns the horse in partnership with Ian Moyes.

News and Notes…..Javier Matias registered three straight wins on the card, when he took races 4,5,6 to grab the early lead in the riders standings…….The first Pick 4 of the season came back with an $869 payoff, with 21 to 1 long shot Regal Mind being the biggest upset in the sequence.
