PORTLAND MEADOWS TARGETS JAN 23rd & 24th FOR RETURN OF RACING

Portland, OR. – After overwhelming snowfall and frozen conditions paralyzed Portland and surrounding area over the last week, live racing could finally be in sight. Though Horsemen, Horsewomen and Officials determined not to race this Sunday or Tuesday, Horse Racing is still on for Monday, Jan 23rd and Tuesday, Jan 24th at 12 pm (PST) . A pineapple express weather system is expected to move into the area over the next several days bringing warmer and wet conditions which should thaw out the area and raise hopes for live racing to return by Monday, Jan 23rd. The Quarter Horse Bonus Challenge is slated for that day as The Oregon Derby will now be set for Tuesday, Jan 24th.

On a side note, Jason Beem will handle the announcing duties for racing on the 23rd & 24th at Portland Meadows. Beem has previously announced races at Portland Meadows and will stand in for Tom Harris who will be fulfilling a prior commitment to Sam Houston Race Park in Houston, Texas for their winter race meet which starts Friday, Jan 20th and runs through mid-March.
