Portland Meadows Announces PNWBA Sanctioned BBQ Cook Off with $5,000 Cash Prize
Portland Mile Day is always one of the biggest race days of the year at the track. For the second consecutive year, the $35,000 Portland Mile along with the six other accompanying stakes races will take place on a special holiday Monday card of racing for Labor Day on Monday September 2, 2013.
Portland Meadows and the Pacific Northwest BBQ Association (PNWBA) are pleased to announce that on Portland Mile Day, there will be a BBQ Cook Off where registered grill masters and their teams will compete for a $5,000 cash prize provided by Portland Meadows. It is expected that there will be about twenty teams competing to be named champion of the “Portland Meadows BBQ Cook Off.”
Teams will set up in the infield of the race track and customers will be encouraged to cross over the racing surface in between races to sample their food for a nominal fee which will also benefit charity. There will also be a People’s Choice Award so please remember to vote for your favorite!

As always, there is no charge for parking or general admission at the track. This includes access to the infield for the BBQ Cook Off.
The infield will also be set-up for your complete pleasure including numerous TVs to watch the races, betting machines, live music, and other food and beverage options. You will also have a great view of the stretch action from inside the rail.
Live racing on Labor Day begins at 1:45 PM and sampling from the BBQ Cook Off will begin at 2:00 PM with the winner announced at approximately 6:00 PM.
