Chicks Snowbound takes the Portland Meadows Fall Derby
The race was billed as a match up between the two favorites Danner and EZ Gamer, but it was Chicks Snowbound who beat them both as she scored the biggest win of her career, taking the $13,900 Portland Meadows Fall Derby on Tuesday. Sent off as the 7/2 third choice in the wagering, Chicks Snowbound broke a bit behind both Danner and EZ Gamer who were coming over from the outside, but Jorge Rosales and Chicks Snowbound rallied in the middle stages of the race, and edged clear late to a half length victory in the end.
It was the fifth win in just eight career starts for the three year old filly who is owned and bred by Robert Pulse. Hector Magallanes saddled the exacta as he trains both Chicks Snowbound and Danner. Danner finished second, ahead of EZ Gamer who ran third.
