Bradens Bustlinbooty takes The Memorial
Bradens Bustlinbooty ($6.00) overcame a slow beginning to get up and win the $7,000 Memorial by a neck on Sunday at Portland Meadows. Sent off as the 2/1 second choice in the field of six, Bradens Bustlinbooty and Luis Torres had to make up ground right from the start.
“She broke so slow,” said Torres. “That six horse (Yeppers) must have been two lengths in front of me early on. I took her to the outside and she really responded down the stretch.”
Bradens Bustlinbooty came to life after that slow break and gradually wore down the early leaders, Sensor and Yeppers.
The win was the fourth career score for Bradens Bustlinbooty from just nine career starts for owner/breeder Carl Alleman. She is trained by Patti Harris and has now earned over $25,000 in her career. Race favorite Sensor finished up in second with Yeppers, the early leader fading back to finish third.
Final time for the 350 yards was 17.88 seconds.
