PORTLAND, OR---Brave Hearted and Desert Sea will both carry 123 pounds as the co-high weights in the $30,000 added Portland Meadows Mile. Brave Hearted is coming off a half-length victory in the $20,000 Governor’s Speed Handicap, the final prep for the Mile. Desert Sea was a fast closing second in the Governor’s Speed at six furlongs, and is 3 for 11 in his career at the one mile distance.
Mystic Wood is nominated to both the Mile as well as an invitational handicap on the March 10th card. Should he enter the Mile, he surely will be the speed of the speed. Mystic Wood has been red hot this season at Portland Meadows with three wins in seven starts. Mystic Wood has been installed as the third high weight at 121 pounds.
I Am Thor is shipping up to Portland Meadows after his last start, a seventh place finish in a handicap race at Santa Anita. I Am Thor holds a career record of four wins in just eight starts at the mile distance.
Alabama Rain, Happy One, and Gold Lad will all carry 119 pounds. Stealth Attack and Flaming Bullet will both go at 118. Rounding out the field of nominee’s is Pioneering Pro at 116, Jack Ryan 115, last year’s Mile winner Derby Rider at 114, and Valid Star at 112.
The thirteen Mile nominee’s have combined for 87 wins and $1,473,636 in total career earnings. The Portland Meadows Mile will go as race 9 of 11 on the Monday March 10th racing program.
