The world famous Budweiser Clydesdale’s will be at Portland Meadows on Thursday May 28 for a meet and greet from 4 to 6 pm in the Portland Meadows Parking Lot. The Clydesdale’s are in town for the Rose Festival City of Starlight Parade coming up on Saturday Night May 30. The Clydesdale’s are staying on the Portland Meadows backstretch for their stay here in Portland.
The Budweiser Clydesdale’s made their debut back on April 7, 1933 to celebrate the repeal of Prohibition. The hitch of Clydesdale’s carried the first case of post-Prohibition beer down the streets of St. Louis as a celebration of the repeal. The Clydesdale’s quickly became the symbol of Budweiser and of life after Prohibition, and even delivered a case of beer to President Franklin Roosevelt at the White House.
The meet and greet will take place in the parking lot of Portland Meadows on Thursday May 28 from 4 to 6 pm
