Stealth Attack wins Invitational Handicap

Stealth Attack returned to his winning ways as he made a big winning move on the far turn to win the $9,000 Invitational Handicap at Portland Meadows on Wednesday.  The win was the thirteenth of Stealth Attack’s career and he has now earned over $128,000 in his solid career for owner Jim Gilmour and trainer Sue Gilmour. 

Stealth Attack sat back in the second flight as Thunder Thorn and Paris Island dueled with one another for much of the way.  Paris Island put away Thunder Thorn at the quarter pole, but was immediately tackled by Stealth Attack who took the lead and held off a late closing Gameshy who rallied late to snatch the place spot.  Paris Island stayed on for third. 

Stealth Attack was ridden by leading jockey Joe Crispin and they completed the one mile and one sixteenth in 1:47.73.

News and Notes…..Crispin rode three winners on the card, with Tyler Walker and Troy Stillwell both having  riding doubles….Portland Meadows new Pick 4 wager was resoundingly popular in it’s open week.  The new bet which cover’s the last four races of the day had an average pool of $12,928 for the three day race week.  Almost four times as much as the average pool for the Pick 5 which was averaged $3,718 after the first 41 days of the meeting.   The Pick 4 pool on Wednesday topped out at $19,346.
