Cool Kyle heads a field of seven sophomores in the 2008 Oregon Derby

Cool Kyle is the only multiple winner in a field of seven assembled to compete in the $20,000 Oregon Derby on Tuesday at Portland Meadows.  The 3 year-old son of Aptitude has been installed as the 3 to 1 second choice behind last out maiden breaker One Quick Brew.   Gary Baze will take the mount for trainer Robbie Baze and owners KJ Star Stable.

One Quick Brew will be making his second start around two turns, the first being a third place finish behind stakes winner Sam Angelo.  Clark Jones will once again ride for leading trainer Jim Ferguson.

Brite Dictator is part of an entry for trainer Jonathon Nance, and deserves to be looked at.  After losing the rider in his first career start, Brite Dictator rebounded to win career start number two.  He finished second in his most recent start, his first time around two-turns.  Joe Crispin will be back aboard of Brite Dictator for the Derby.  The other half of the Nance entry is Hurricane’s Eye, who will look to break his maiden on Tuesday.

Pulzational might be the speed of the race, after being close to the lead sprinting in all of his starts.  This marks his first try around two turns.  Pulzational will be ridden by Luis Torres for trainer Rod Hyde.

The complete field for the 2008 Oregon Derby is: 1) Brite Dictator, Joe Crispin. 1A) Hurricane’s Eye, Gary Gavica. 2) Pulzational, Luis Torres. 3) Got No Socks, Troy Stillwell. 4) One Quick Brew, Clark Jones. 5) Uncle Fred, David Lopez. 6) Cool Kyle, Gary Baze.  The Oregon Derby will go as the tenth race on the closing day card, first post is 12:35pm.
