Favorites dominate during the week:
The betting public was quite savvy this week with twelve favorites winning during the 20 races carded for the week (60%). Wednesday was especially chalky with 7 of the nine races being won by the betting favorites (77%). The longest priced winner of the week came early on Monday, in the second race of the day when Quarter Horse Amen Brother Ben sprung a 12.50 to 1 upset to win. He anchored the biggest Daily Double of the week, paying $151.60 with the day’s first winner, Hez Worthy, who was 3.30 to 1. The $151.60 payoff was $35.50 higher than a $2 win parlay on those two runners.

Closers and outside posts thrive during the week…..Being up front was not the place to be Monday March 8, 2010 as only one front runner was victorious on the card. Three winners came from stalking positions just off of the pace, and four horses came from the back half of the field early on to win. Also on Monday, there were no horses who were victorious from the inside 2 post positions, with five winners breaking in the outer third of the field, and four coming from middle post positions. Wednesday seemed to play very fair as three front runners won, three stalkers won, and three closers won. The rail was golden in routes as three of the four route winners broke from the inside posts. And in sprint races on Wednesday the middle of field was the place to be, as horses breaking from middle post positions won four of the five sprints.
